Newborn Babies require a lot of time and attention to photograph. I spend a great deal of time during my newborn photo sessions. Toronto Newborn Photography sessions generally last 4 hours, although there is no time limit on sessions. Quite often, babies will have tummy trouble or they may be in need of more time for feedings. This is all okay because your newborn photo session is geared towards your baby’s needs and comfort.
The best time for newborn babies to be photographed is between 5 and 10 days of age. After 10 days of age, babies are more alert and aware of their surroundings. The curliness that newborns are born with, starts to become less apparent after the first 10 days.
Most of my newborn clients, call me when they are still expecting to book their newborn photography session. Your session is booked based on your baby’s due date. Your baby may arrive 3 weeks early or one week late. Whenever your baby decides to arrive is okay. I ask clients to give me a call within about 3 days of their baby arriving. This allows us time to schedule your newborn photography session before your baby is 10 days of age.
Sometimes, unexpected events happen such as an unplanned c-section. Most moms who have c-sections do not feel up to their newborn photography session until their baby is 8 or 9 days of age. Sometimes, clients may need a few extra days and that is okay too.
This year marks my 500th newborn baby photographed. I am also excited to have earned my second professional accreditation for newborn portraiture with the Professional Photographer of Canada.
