This baby boy was welcomed with love by two adoring parents.
Baby “A” was just 8 days new at the time of his portrait session.
My favourite images from his session are the images of his mom holding him in her arms. These images always tend to be my favourites. This little boy will grow up and be able to see the love his mother had for him in his first few days of life.
What I wouldn’t give to have one of these images holding my daughter. Kind of like the shoemaker’s wife who doesn’t have any shoes, I’m the photographer who doesn’t have many photos of my daughter.
Each year, I schedule two photo sessions for my daughter. We buy a special outfit together. I do her hair. Sometimes we go outside for pictures. Other times, we take studio pictures inside. It’s often difficult for a photographer to take images of their own children. I tell my clients their children will likely listen better to me, than to their mom or dad. My daughter is the same, and will give me about 10 to 15 minutes and then she’s done with picture taking.
I’ve gotten better over the years with the need to capture a perfect image of my daughter each time I press the shutter release. A lot of great moments were lost fussing over perfect lighting, perfect composition and a perfect outfit. Sometimes we just need to capture those memories
