This sweet little boy, Teodoro, is another one of the babies who visited my studio during the latest newborn posing workshop. He was 8 days old when his baby portraits were taken and despite the balmy temperature inside the studio, little Teodoro was wide awake when he first arrived. With a little coaxing, he soon curled up into some adorable, sleepy poses for his portraits.
This newborn photography workshop ran a little differently than those I’ve hosted in the past. Usually, there are 1 to 2 newborn models throughout the day and we focus on full newborn sessions. During this workshop, however, there were 4 newborns on day 1, which meant that there was always a baby fed, sleepy and ready for posing. While it required a great deal of multi-tasking, the workshop was a great success, thanks in large part to my friend and fellow Toronto baby photographer, Christina. Christina attends most of the workshops and plays a big part in ensuring that the days run smoothly. I’m so grateful for her support and friendship!
Evolving as a Toronto Baby Photographer
I decided to run this last workshop differently because change was needed. Working as a Toronto baby photographer, I’ve learned that it takes a great deal of dedication and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the clients in this industry in order to be successful. Some would undoubtedly call me an over-achiever. I have been one all my life, whether it was with the hobbies I adopted, while in school, or joining one of the biggest law firms in Canada (Faskens) just 2 years after graduation. Nowadays, my over-achieving ways push me to go the extra mile for the perfect photo or to do what it takes to ensure I’m still doing what I love and know best, in the future.
A lot has changed in the 7 years since I picked up a camera, but I’ve always done my best to adapt to the changing needs of my clients and market trends and to adjust my service offering accordingly. While some photographers frown upon my new ‘Price Matching’ special, my clients are embracing it with open arms, as it’s giving more families the opportunity to have beautiful baby portraits taken of their children.
A photographer once told me not to worry about what other photographers think of you; they don’t pay your bills, your clients do. It took me a while to grasp that concept, but after a few years, it started to sink in. I don’t work as a Toronto baby photographer to do one baby portraits session and have nothing to do for the rest of the week. When I photograph those tiny little miracles who visit my studio, I’m doing what I love most, and there’s no better feeling than being able to offer clients the beautiful imagery they see in my portfolio. To ensure that I’m still working as a Toronto baby photographer well into the future, I’ll keep pushing the limits and going the extra mile for those who love and appreciate fine photography as much as I do.
Thank you to Teodoro’s mommy for bringing this beautiful baby boy to my studio. It was such a pleasure meeting you both!
