This week will be my official week back after returning from Perth, Australia. I returned home on a Friday evening after 27 hours of flight time, Perth to Dubai to Toronto. Perth is 13 hours ahead of Toronto time. There was no time to recover from jet lag as I had a newborn photo session first thing the next morning and then every day thereafter until the following Thursday. I am slowly getting organized and back into my regular routine.
Perth was just as beautiful as I remembered it to be from the last time I was there 6 years ago. The first 5 days of my arrival I was without luggage as the tag had come detached from my luggage in New York. Within minutes of where I was staying was the shopping district of Perth City. Travel insurance paid for a new wardrobe of summer clothes. Temperatures were as high as 39 degrees in the shade most days.
While I waited for my luggage and recovered from jet lag I visited a beautiful beach called Cottlesloe beach, explored Perth City, went for at least a 20 km walk every morning through King’s Park and along the Esplanade and visited Keturah Spa.
Once my luggage and I reunited I took a 7 day Western Exposure tour to Exmouth. My goal was to reach Exmouth and dive the Navy Pier. It is by far one of the most marvelous scuba dives I have ever done. An abundance of marine life can be found around the Pier. At one point, there where 5 white tip reef sharks lounging together at the bottom of the ocean floor – the most I have ever seen together in one place. Along the way to Exmouth, we visited farm stays along the Western Coast of Australia, a place called Monkey Mia and Coral Bay. When I was at Monkey Mia 6 years ago, the dolphins did not come into the cove due to Cyclone Claire. This time I was able to see the dolphins. While snorkeling with Manta Rays in Coral Bay there was a tiger shark attack. The attack happened to a tour guide that had served us dinner the evening before. You can view a video about the attack here Tiger Shark Attack Coral Bay.
Australia day took place during my visit. My day was spent at Rottnest Island and this time I was able to bike the entire island with stops along the way at beautiful beaches and dips in the water. It was the hottest day of the month while I was there. When I returned from Rottnest, I arrived just in time to see the fireworks from the 14th floor of my apartment. A stunning display of fireworks and a beautiful view.
Approaching the end of my 33 days in Perth, I met with local photographers and prepared for a Newborn Posing Class. We met at the C-Restaurant during sunset and had a fabulous time getting to know one another.
I had a fun filled day working with strobes and lighting techniques with Lauren Kober of Lauren K Photography. Thank you Lauren for a fabulous time!
My last stop before departing for Toronto was to a children’s clothing store called the Pumpkin Patch. I couldn’t resist buying my daughter some new clothes.
Time sure does fly and my 33 days in Perth went by far too quickly! I’m looking forward to coming back again very soon!
