Sunset Maternity Photography with Phoebe

Toronto Maternity Photographer

Over the course of the last couple of months, I’ve had several wonderful opportunities to get outside with maternity photography clients. Even when I revisit the same locations, I never tire of taking maternity photography sessions outdoors because the portraits are always unique. A new, beautiful expectant woman at each session (and often their spouses), lighting that changes depending on the location, the time of day and weather, new flowers blooming or foliage that grows fuller with each week all combine to provide incredibly beautiful and original portraits.

Phoebe is one of these lovely mommas-to-be whom I met at one of my favourite outdoor locations, just before the sun set. As you can see from this small yet stunning collection of portraits, Phoebe was a natural in front of the camera. With maternity photography, I’m always amazed at just how comfortable the vast majority of my clients are in front of the lens. Perhaps some women feel more confident in their appearance when they’re pregnant. My hope is that I help them to feel at ease during their sessions, too.

Maternity Photography with Nature’s Best Backdrops

Phoebe was the first woman to wear the new maternity tutu dress at an outdoor location, and I have to say, I think it was made for her! Isn’t she gorgeous?!

Throughout the session, Phoebe and I walked around the grounds of this property, using a number of picturesque settings. The triple row of trees is by far one of my favourite places to photograph–just about anything! Maternity portraits, children, princess in the park and family photos all look amazing when taken in this setting.

I’ll never get tired of taking pictures of people on this kissing bridge, either. I love the bridge’s rusticity and think there’s something so special about using this old world fixture in modern day portraits. The whole meaning behind the ‘kissing bridge’ was that in days gone by, those in love would use the privacy that a covered bridge provided to steal a kiss. The setting seems rather fitting when loving couples, families and expectant women are photographed here, don’t you think?

As a photographer, I really couldn’t have asked for better light than what we had to work with during Phoebe’s session; beautiful and soft, just before sunset. Thank you, Phoebe, for choosing me to take your maternity portraits. It was an absolute pleasure photographing you and I wish you all the best as you welcome your baby into the world.
