Natural settings like parks can provide some of the most beautiful backdrops for portraits. The park pictured in the family maternity portraits I’ve included here was bursting with cherry blossoms at the time when this photo session took place, adding incredible colour and texture to this lovely family’s collection of photos. We were lucky to have booked the session at the right time, as the gorgeous and fragrant cherry blossoms only last a mere 6 to 10 days before falling off and making way for the tree’s leaves to bud and grow. Because of the harsh winter, this year’s festival was in mid May, the latest it’s been in a decade, and many trees didn’t actually blossom at all but went straight to budding leaves. Despite this, the photos I took that day were magnificent.
Book Your Toronto Maternity Photographer in Advance to Take Advantage of the Fleeting Cherry Blossom Festival
If these photos resonate with you and you would like something similar for your own maternity photography session in the future, be sure to contact me well in advance. The trees bloom as early as mid April and as late as mid May each year, and so informing me that you would like your session to take place in the park during this time will allow us to book your session around Mother Nature’s schedule.
Maternity Photography with the Whole Family
I so enjoyed spending time with this family during that beautiful morning in the park. We strolled amongst the cherry trees, stopping for portraits whenever a particularly beautiful backdrop presented itself, and chatted about our mutual love for photography while exchanging some camera techniques. This couple enjoys sightseeing and shared an idea for a location in Durham Region that would be amazing for photography sessions. I can’t wait to use it soon!
You would never know it by the images I’ve included here, but the couple’s son was a bit shy at the beginning of the session. It didn’t last long, however, and soon he was showing me what a little ham he could be and even flexed his muscles for the camera!
Meeting lovely people like this family is part of what makes my job as a Toronto maternity photographer so rewarding. Another thing I love about my job is having the opportunity to visit and see such amazing landscapes. When we’re busy in our day-to-day lives we often forget to take time to look around us and to really appreciate the beauty that’s right in our own communities. The parks in this area have so much to offer, which is why I’ve been making a point of getting out and using these incredible natural backdrops as much as possible, lately. In fact, later that same day, I took my daughter back to this park and captured some lovely images of her wearing one of the new Princess in the Park dresses I recently purchased for my studio’s photography wardrobe. Stay tuned for a peek at some of the beautiful photos I captured of my daughter, as well as some of the other little princesses and princes I’ve recently photographed in park settings.
I’d like to thank this couple for choosing me as their Toronto maternity photographer and I wish them all the best as they welcome a new little addition to their family.
